Weight calculation questions
How do you calculate the weight of an aluminum extrusion?
Multiply the cross-sectional area by the length and the density. In practical units: weight (kg/m) = area (mm²) × density (g/cm³) ÷ 1000. For 6000-series alloys at 2.70 g/cm³, that is area × 0.0027.
What is the density of 6063 and 6061 aluminum?
About 2.70 g/cm³ for 6061 and 6063 (6063 is sometimes quoted as 2.69), and about 2.71 g/cm³ for 6082.
Why does the actual weight differ from the calculated weight?
