03Why 7005 for welded frames
Welding softens aluminum next to the weld. Most high-strength alloys need full re-heat-treatment to recover, but 7005 regains much of its strength by natural aging at room temperature after welding — a practical advantage for welded frames that are too large to heat-treat easily.

Is 7005 stronger than 6061?
Yes — typically around 20–30 % stronger in aged tempers, with the added benefit of recovering strength after welding by natural aging.
What is the difference between 7005 and 7075?
7075 is much stronger but is not suitable for welding; 7005 is weldable and is used where frames are welded.
