Electrophoretic (E-Coat) Finish for Aluminum Profiles

Electrophoretic coating (e-coat) deposits a thin acrylic lacquer onto an anodized aluminum profile using an electric field, then cures it. The result is a very smooth, uniform composite film — anodic layer plus paint — that reaches into recesses evenly, protects the anodic color and adds corrosion and chemical resistance. Matte and gloss, clear and colored versions are common for windows and doors.

01How electrophoretic coating works

After anodizing (and coloring, if required), profiles are immersed in a water-based acrylic bath. An electric current drives the paint particles onto every exposed surface until the film insulates itself — which is why thickness stays remarkably even. The film is then cured in an oven.
